Workshop Service Engineer

Job description and activities

A Workshop Service Engineer (WSE) provides on or off-site corrective or preventative maintenance and offers after-sales technical support solutions once a product has been sold.

Typical work activities include:

responding to customer call-outs;

evaluating and resolving problems;

assisting with the installation of equipment;

liaising with and working alongside technical sales engineers;

offering customer training;

repairing, testing and maintaining equipment;

monitoring the performance of products;

maintaining manuals;

providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests;

developing and maintaining relationships with customers;

making recommendations to maintenance technicians;

Offering feedback on future product development, features and functions.

Typically, the role is split between the office and customers' premises.

Regular travel within the Europe and US is a common feature. Travel abroad is common in companies with international markets and clients.

Progression from this role is usually to technical sales engineer, a role in project engineering, plant maintenance manager or other senior management positions.

Ferrari S.p.A is one of the first Companies that have applied WSE, to assure the best quality of service at the Dealers and in service development. Do to the growing high complex technology and because the regular Technicians can’t answer to SAT Engineers and respond to the needs of Development Engineers.
